The Legendary Ibrahim Sukkar
Where Engineering Meets Artistry. Born in 1967, Ibrahim Sukkar is a master builder who forever changed the landscape of traditional acoustic instruments. By combining his background in mechanical engineering with centuries-old woodworking techniques, he solved the Oud’s most persistent structural challenges. Most notably, Sukkar pioneered the internal adjustable neck mechanism for flawless neck stability, and was the first to introduce heavy-duty fiberglass cases for global touring in 1997. From designing custom precision tools to hand-spinning his own strings, his relentless innovation preserved the ancient craft while bringing it into the modern era. Today, his masterpieces are celebrated at international festivals across Egypt, Oman, Morocco, and Qatar.
